Voice to MIDI Software Mac PC

imitone is an app for PC and Mac which transforms your voice into musical notes, live. As you sing — or whistle, or hum — imitone instantly converts the sound into “MIDI signals” which can control almost any music software.

imitone is an app for PC and Mac which transforms your voice into musical notes, live.  As you sing — or whistle, or hum — imitone instantly converts the sound into “MIDI signals” which can control almost any music software.

Anyone can use it.  No set-up is needed: opening the program is just like plugging a musical keyboard into your computer.  To hear your voice transformed into a violin or flute, you need only start imitone, select that instrument in your music program, put on some headphones and start singing. It’s that simple.

No ear for music?  Imitone has you covered.  It’s designed to help you sing in tune, providing constant feedback on the pitch of your voice.  Additional tools like scale-snapping help it to correct your errors.

Works with everything.  Because it acts as a MIDI controller, thousands of music programs already work with imitone, including the popular (and free!) GarageBand for Mac.  You can control imitone with your voice or a musical instrument, and a regular laptop-quality microphone.

You can use imitone to compose music, perform it live, digitize recordings, dynamically control audio effects, train your singing, or tune your instrument. Other, still stranger uses exist, but those are for you to discover!

The best part: It’s not just a promise. Imitone is fully-functional right now, and will be available to backers within a month after this Kickstarter concludes.

The creator of imitone, Evan Balster, is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to help cover development costs. And to date the initiative has managed to raise over $43,000, well past its $20,000 goal. You can pre-order a copy of the software, which is set to be released in May, with a donation of just $25. Or reserve a copy of imitone prime for $60 which includes more advanced features and nationality.

It includes a True Peak Limiter and targets for common Loudness Standards (EBU R128, ATSC A/85, Podcasts, Mobile, etc.).

The Auphonic Leveler is available for Mac OS X 10.6+ (64bit) and Windows Vista/7/8 (32bit or 64bit).

Auphonic Leveler Feature Highlights – Algorithms

Adaptive Leveler

The Adaptive Leveler analyzes the content of audio files and balances loudness variations between different segments in one audio file. It is most suitable for speech or radio-like programs or podcasts.

  • The algorithm classifies music, background and speech segments in the audio file
  • Loudness differences are corrected by applying dynamic range compression
  • Music segments are handled differently than speech segments: natural dynamics are retained
  • Background noises (noise, wind, breathing, silence, etc.) won’t be amplified

Loudness Normalization

Global Loudness Normalization algorithms calculate the loudness of audio files and apply a constant gain to reach a defined target level in LUFS, so that all processed audio files have the same average loudness based on the latest broadcast standards including those for television (EBU R128, ATSC A/85), radio and mobile.

True Peak Limiter

Auphonic Leveler’s True Peak Limiter, with 4x oversampling to avoid intersample peaks, is used to limit the final output signal to the selected maximum true peak level to ensure compliance with the selected loudness target.

Adaptive High Pass Filter

The Adaptive High Pass Filter cuts unnecessary and disturbing low frequencies, depending on context.

Supported Input File Formats:

  • WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis
  • Mac OS X only: MP4/M4A/M4B, AAC, ALAC, CAF, AC3, MP2, 3GP

Supported Output File Formats:

  • WAV, AIFF, MP3 (via lame), FLAC, Ogg Vorbis
  • Mac OS X only: AAC (M4A)

Free EQ Plugin – SlickEQ – VST / AU

TDR VOS SlickEQ is a mixing/mastering equalizer designed for ease of use, musical flexibility and impeccable sound.

TDR VOS SlickEQ is a mixing/mastering equalizer designed for ease of use, musical flexibility and impeccable sound.

Three (and a half) filter-bands arranged in a classic Low/Mid/High semi-parametric layout offer fast and intuitive access to four distinct EQ modes, each representing a set of distinct EQ curves and behaviors. An elaborate auto gain option automatically compensates for changes of perceived loudness during EQ operation. Optionally, SlickEQ allows to exclusively process either the stereo sum or stereo difference (i.e. “stereo width”) without additional sum/difference encoding.

In order to warm up the material with additional harmonic content, SlickEQ offers a switchable EQ non-linearity and an output stage with 3 different saturation models. These options are meant to offer subtle and interesting textures, rather than obvious distortion. The effect is made to add the typical “mojo” often associated with classy audio gear.

An advanced 64bit multirate processing scheme practically eliminates typical problems of digital EQ implementations such as frequency warping, quantization distortion and aliasing.

Beside the primary controls, the plug-in comes with an array of additional helpers: Advanced preset management, undo/redo, quick A/B comparison, copy & paste, an online help, editable labels, mouse-wheel support and much more.

SlickEQ is a collaborative project by Variety of Sound (Herbert Goldberg) and Tokyo Dawn Labs (Vladislav Goncharov and Fabien Schivre).

Key specs and features

  • Intuitive, yet flexible semi parametric EQ layout
  • Full featured, modern user interface with outstanding usability and ergonomics
  • Carefully designed 64bit “delta” multi-rate structure

  • Four distinct EQ models: “American”, “British”, “German” and “Soviet” with optional non-linearity
  • Four output stages: “Linear”, “Silky”, “Mellow” and “Deep”
  • Advanced saturation algorithms by VoS (“stateful saturation”)
  • Highly effective and musically pleasing loudness compensated auto gain control
  • Oversampled signal path including stateful saturation algorithms
  • Stereo and sum/difference processing options
  • Tool-bar with undo/redo, A/B, advanced preset management and more

Sonnet xMac Pro Server Makes New Mac Pro Rack-Ready

The new Mac Pro has become the object of desire, but a lustrous finish hides its true beauty—the massive power within. If you’re a pro user in the video or audio industries, the Mac Pro offers the power you need, but lacks the built-in expandability you count on. In order to achieve this engineering feat, Apple® designers stripped away components and space to a minimum, taking out PCIe slots and drive bays, and packed the remaining components into a small cylinder. Its compact size makes the new Mac Pro more transportable and rackable, but prevents onboard installation of PCIe expansion cards. In addition, the computer still requires an enclosure to make it road- or rack-ready and provide convenient cable management. Sonnet’s xMac Pro Server PCIe expansion system/4U rackmount enclosure addresses these issues and increases a Mac Pro’s potential in a big way.

Building on the concept of our award-winning xMac mini ServerPCIe 2.0 expansion system/1U rackmount enclosure for Mac® mini, we designed a 4U rackmount enclosure exclusively for the new Mac Pro, and integrated the three PCIe 2.0 slots, 20Gbps Thunderbolt 2 technology, and expandability of Echo Express III-RThunderbolt 2 expansion chassis for PCIe cards. Like the III-R, xMac Pro Server provides space for you to mount additional equipment, such as storage expansion. To support a wide range of popular mobile racks, carts and portable rack cases, xMac Pro Server is just 16″ deep. The xMac Pro Server securely holds the computer and installed cards, making your Mac Pro fully rack- and road-ready.

3 PCIe SlotsConnect Up to Three PCIe Cards to Your New Mac Pro

Sonnet’s xMac Pro Server supports three full-length PCIe cards. It integrates a universal 300W power supply and includes a 75W PCIe power connector for cards that require supplementary power, such as the Avid® Pro Tools|HDX or the new RED® ROCKET-X. Even with all that power, xMac Pro Server is enviro-friendly; it automatically powers the PCIe expansion system on or off whenever the connected computer powers on or wakes, or powers off or sleeps, respectively.
